Advantage & Supplement Plans
Dave compares Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Supplement (Medigap) plans from multiple top carriers. He helps you weigh the pros and cons of each so you can choose a plan that offers the right balance of coverage, flexibility, and cost.

Prescription
Drug Coverage
(Part D)
Prescription coverage can be confusing — but it doesn’t have to be. Dave evaluates your medication list and helps you choose a Part D plan that minimizes your out-of-pocket costs while covering the prescriptions you rely on.

What is Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older, though some younger individuals with certain disabilities or conditions may also qualify.
Do I have to pay for Medicare?
-
Part A: Usually free if you or your spouse worked and paid Medicare taxes for at least 10 years.
 -
Part B: Has a standard monthly premium (varies based on income).
 -
Part C and D: Costs vary by plan and provider.

Can I have both Medicare and other insurance?
-
Yes. If you have other insurance (like through an employer or union), it may work with Medicare. Coordination of benefits will determine who pays first.

How do I choose the right Medicare plan for me?
-
Your current doctors and whether they accept Medicare or are in a Medicare Advantage plan's network.
 -
Prescription drugs and whether they’re covered under a Part D or Advantage plan.
 -
Extra benefits you might want (dental, vision, hearing).
 -
Out-of-pocket costs and premium affordability.
 -
Travel needs (Original Medicare is more flexible out of state).

When can I sign up for Medicare?
-
Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): Starts 3 months before you turn 65, includes your birth month, and ends 3 months after.
 -
General Enrollment Period: January 1 to March 31 each year (if you missed your IEP).
 -
Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs): If you delayed Medicare due to having other coverage (like through an employer), you may qualify for a SEP.

Should I choose Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan?
-
Original Medicare: Flexibility to see any doctor who accepts Medicare. Usually requires separate Part D and Medigap plan.
 -
Medicare Advantage: May offer extra benefits (dental, vision, hearing) and include drug coverage, but has network restrictions.

What happens if I miss my enrollment deadline?
-
You may face late enrollment penalties and delays in coverage. It’s important to sign up on time or have a valid reason (like employer coverage) to delay.

What are the different parts of Medicare?
-
Part A (Hospital Insurance): Covers inpatient care, hospice, and some skilled nursing.
 -
Part B (Medical Insurance): Covers doctor visits, outpatient care, and preventive services.
 -
Part C (Medicare Advantage): An alternative to Original Medicare, offered by private insurers, often includes Part D and extra benefits.
 -
Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage): Helps cover the cost of prescription medications.

What is Medigap (Medicare Supplement Insurance)?
-
Medigap helps cover out-of-pocket costs not covered by Original Medicare (like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles). You must have Parts A & B to buy Medigap, and it doesn’t work with Medicare Advantage.

Can I change my Medicare plan later?
-
Original Medicare generally provides broader nationwide coverage. Medicare Advantage plans may have local network restrictions, so traveling or splitting time between states could affect your access.

Neighbor Notes
Carol M., 72
“When I first started looking at Medicare plans, I was completely lost. David took the time to explain everything in plain language and never made me feel rushed. He really listened to what mattered most to me — especially keeping my doctor and prescriptions. Thanks to him, I feel confident I made the right choice. He truly cares about people, not just policies.”
Harold T., 68
“I had met with a few agents before, but no one took the time like David did. He was patient, thorough, and honest about what I needed (and what I didn’t). It’s nice to meet someone who genuinely wants to help you, not sell you something. I’ve already recommended him to my golfing buddies.”
Ruth Ann B., 77
“I lost my husband last year and was nervous about handling all this Medicare stuff on my own. David showed so much compassion and walked me through each step, even checking in afterward to make sure everything went smoothly. He made me feel cared for during a difficult time — that means more than he’ll ever know.”
